Laguna Hills, CALIFORNIA – Their absence from the desert floor for 48-days did not detract from the performance of desert racing's newest dynamic duo, Mark Post and Rob MacCachren. Together they stormed across the Southern Nevada desert in style capturing their third Trophy/Trick Truck championship win in a row while racing in America's two elite desert racing series, SCORE and Best in the Desert.
Riviera Racing arrived to Best in the Desert's Terrible's Town 250 early Thursday afternoon with the Riviera Racing No.3 race truck prepped and ready to roll. Nevada's Rob MacCachren qualified the Jim Blackmore-prepped speed demon in the number one position for Saturday's race. Race morning saw the No.3 BFGoodrich Tires shod race truck running in clean air, as the 39" Baja T/A KR tires toughed out the pounding provided by Riviera's Rob MacCachren. Unbeknownst to the drivers, Mark Post and Rob MacCachren, and co-driver Kelly Courie, an unfortunate accident took the life of a Riviera Racing crew member in the early morning hours. "Our victory in the desert today is overshadowed by a somber reality check when one of our race team members lost his life and another race team member was severely injured in a high-voltage electrical mishap. From behind the wheel of the race truck, Rob, Kelly and myself were insulated from the incident, but as I learned what unfolded after we won the race. I was stunned and shocked. My heartfelt condolences go out to Jeff's family and friends," said a somber Mark Post. Oblivious to the world outside the race truck, Rob handed off the No.3 Riviera Racing Trick Truck to Mark near the halfway point trailing on corrected time to a handful of the best racers in desert racing. Mark ran a strategic and calculated race across the desert fending off charges from the competition and reached the Terrible's Casino finish line before anyone else. This victory marks yet another dominating and mistake free performance in the desert by Riviera Racing. With the race truck undergoing a full prep for the upcoming SCORE Baja 500 on June 2, 2007, Mark Post and Rob MacCachren have extensive plans for prerunning what is expected to be a "Battle in Baja." Riviera Racing thanks all of their sponsors including Monarch Grand Vacations, BFGoodrich Tires, TORCO Race Fuels, Ultra Wheels, Javier's Cantina & Grill, PIAA Lights, Anaheim Hills Auto Body, Patton Racing Engines, Donahoe Racing, DirtBagz, Ron Davis Radiator and Sunset Signs. # # # Public Relations Contact: ROMM, Inc. |
