Long Beach, California-The 37th Southern California Cycle World Motorcycle Show debuted Friday, December 6, 2002 at the Long Beach Convention Center. This show featured all the 2003 model motorcycles, scooters and ATVs you can imagine, as well as rows and rows of aftermarket parts, accessories and apparel. Tommi Ahvala of Team Extreme was doing live trial riding demos including a heroic launch up a 16 foot vertical wall onto a waterfall. The action was as expected and the crowds were thick. But ultimately this show was all about the off-road machines that rule the dirt.

The Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows was presented by Toyota Trucks. The traveling show recently posted the largest attendance in its 20+ year history, with a staggering 528,735 motorcycle and off-roading enthusiasts. Reaching the nation's most qualified powersports enthusiasts, an average of 44,061 per market, who go to the shows looking for the best in on and off-road motorcycles, ATVs and other powersports gear and equipment.

BAJA CHAMPIONS AND THE HAHM GIRLS

BAJA 1000 CHAMPION-Racing all 1017 miles of the harshest terrain in the world, the Honda Rincon captured first place in the Quad Class at the recent SCORE-International Baja 1000 race. Averaging 45 miles per hour, the winning quad sustained the intolerable hours of operation and crossed the line to claim first place. The Honda Rincon was on display for all to see at the show. It's not too often you have the chance to see a dirty champion like this.

HAHM MOTORSPORTS-The girls from Hahm Motosports were perusing the aisles at the show and showing off the latest that Hahm Motorsports has to offer. Recently, Hahm Motorsports moved just around the corner from their old building and the new showroom is gorgeous. They carry all makes and models of off-road machines. Check them out at Anaheim Blvd. and Ball in Anaheim, California.

TEAM EXTREME- Motorcycle trials are thriving in the United States after the move over from Europe and Australia. Tommi Ahvala of Team Extreme was doing live trial riding demos including a heroic launch up a 16 foot vertical wall onto a waterfall.

Not only was this a successful year for the Cycle World 2002 International Motorcycle Shows, but it's proof positive that regardless of the economic woes in the country, the off-roading and motorcyle crowds will continue to purchase recreational toys. Enthusiasts from across the country came to see the latest and greatest innovations, products and services, along with the hottest new off-road motorcycles, quads and high-performance accessories.

CYCLE WORLD PRESENTS- For the fourth year in a row, Cycle World magazine hosted a vehicle display highlighting the best classic, custom and vintage motorcycles from various vehicle manufacturers worldwide. Plus, Cycle World Magazine, HRCA (Honda Riders Club of America) and the Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows Presented by Toyota Trucks partnered together to offer a donation to Ride For Kids charity.

ORC staffers were impressed by the large and diverse collection of vehicles, motorcycles, ATVs, scooters and accompanying products.

OFF-ROAD ADVENTURES

SPECTRUM MOTORSPORTS- The Spectrum Motorsports girls were on hand signing posters and posing with spectators throughout the weekend. This guy is a NASCAR-Jeff Gordon fan, but after a few photos between these two girls, he was ready to jump on the Spectrum Motorsports bandwagon. Providing race quality motorcycles and race apparel, the guys and gals from Spectrum Motorsports rock. Visit their Irvine, California location soon.

AMA CALIFORNIA DISTRICT 9 BMX CHAMPION MICHAEL WOLFE- Mike Wolfe was found at the Cycle Show trying out a new Kawasaki motorcyle for size. The AMA District #9 BMX Champion roamed the show in search of a new off-road machine. With possible hints of retiring his BMX bicycle and graduating to a motor powered beast, his parents and friends came along in tow. Mike was spotted at many different dealers trying motorcycles out for size. Look for this 9-year-old champion to seize the right opportunity for excellence.

CALIFORNIA STATE PARK RANGERS- These two CSP rangers were on hand answering the many questions off-roaders have but may never get to ask. Better ask at the Cycle Show than to ask while receiving a citation for a violation. Wear your helmets and obey your local laws.

It didn't matter if your interest was off-road or street, the Cycle Show had enough for all to share. The rows and rows of vendors catered to both facets of motorcyle riding. ORC staffers witnessed on more than one occasion, a group of street riders mulling about the Gas-Gas display booth. With both the latest in off-road motorcycles and quads imported to the United States for immediate sales, the crowds were doing nothing but smiling and wishing for a present from Santa Claus.
