Long Beach, California-The 37th Southern California Cycle World Motorcycle Show debuted Friday, December 6, 2002 at the Long Beach Convention Center. This show featured all the 2003 model motorcycles, scooters and ATVs you can imagine, as well as rows and rows of aftermarket parts, accessories and apparel. Tommi Ahvala of Team Extreme was doing live trial riding demos including a heroic launch up a 16 foot vertical wall onto a waterfall. The action was as expected and the crowds were thick. But ultimately this show was all about the off-road machines that rule the dirt. The Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows was presented by Toyota Trucks. The traveling show recently posted the largest attendance in its 20+ year history, with a staggering 528,735 motorcycle and off-roading enthusiasts. Reaching the nation's most qualified powersports enthusiasts, an average of 44,061 per market, who go to the shows looking for the best in on and off-road motorcycles, ATVs and other powersports gear and equipment.
Not only was this a successful year for the Cycle World 2002 International Motorcycle Shows, but it's proof positive that regardless of the economic woes in the country, the off-roading and motorcyle crowds will continue to purchase recreational toys. Enthusiasts from across the country came to see the latest and greatest innovations, products and services, along with the hottest new off-road motorcycles, quads and high-performance accessories. CYCLE WORLD PRESENTS- For the fourth year in a row, Cycle World magazine hosted a vehicle display highlighting the best classic, custom and vintage motorcycles from various vehicle manufacturers worldwide. Plus, Cycle World Magazine, HRCA (Honda Riders Club of America) and the Cycle World International Motorcycle Shows Presented by Toyota Trucks partnered together to offer a donation to Ride For Kids charity. ORC staffers were impressed by the large and diverse collection of vehicles, motorcycles, ATVs, scooters and accompanying products.
TEST RIDES-Some very lucky licensed motorcycle riders took the opportunity to test ride the latest in technology offered by BMW of North America, Buell and Indian motorcycles. Only having to provide their own safety gear and a valid motorcycle license many motorcycle enthusiasts took advantage of this rare opportunity. BMW of North America also rewarded riders with free motorcycle parking in designated lots, as well as a a convenient and complementary helmet and coat check. At "The Factory," showgoers could preview this season's hottest product offerings. This special showcase displayed a wide array of the latest top-of-the-line aftermarket products designed to increase performance and style from companies such as All American Rider; Arai Helmets; Autocom Communications Specialists; Avon Tyres; Bell Helmets; Chatterbox; Cobra Engineering; Dowco, Inc.; Dunlop Motorcycle Tires; HJC Helmets; K&N Engineering; Kendon Industries; Metzeler Motorcycle Tires; Muzzys Performance Products; Prexport; Progressive Suspension; Shoei Helmets; Suomy Helmets; Winex Helmets and Yuasa Battery.
It didn't matter if your interest was off-road or street, the Cycle Show had enough for all to share. The rows and rows of vendors catered to both facets of motorcyle riding. ORC staffers witnessed on more than one occasion, a group of street riders mulling about the Gas-Gas display booth. With both the latest in off-road motorcycles and quads imported to the United States for immediate sales, the crowds were doing nothing but smiling and wishing for a present from Santa Claus.
The Cycle World Show continues the tradition and moves to cold and snowy New York City, New York on Jan 10-12, 2003 and then onto Atlanta, Georgia one-week later for another spectacular show. Look for the show appearing near your location soon.
