Huge growth this year was seen in the area of manufacturers, importers and dealers of quads from China, Korea, and Taiwan - especially in the small or youth models. We've tested some surprisingly good models in the past (Kymco and Alpha Sports) so won't quickly dismiss these new-comers. But we have been surprised at the rush to the U.S. market in the past 24 months for entry-level-priced quads. We'll reserve our judgment on most of these new lines until we have a chance to actually throw a leg over them in person. There can be a huge difference in manufacturing and assembly quality... (We can't even begin to pronounce the name of many anyway!) For sport ATVs in 2004, look for a lot of development for the Honda TRX450, Yamaha YFZ450, and still a lot of new offerings for the Z400. It also looks like the interest in performance Mini's is exploding, with aftermarket builders as well as factories delivering hot options for the youth race market.
Dinli
Does that frame look familiar? We spotted this Cannondale frame and just had to stop and see it. We learned that in fact, Dinli recently purchased the patents and designs from Cannondale. This newly-announced quad now carries a 500cc engine and complete new body work. No units are available to market yet - this is a big step for Dinli into the US performance market and more announcements will be coming soon.
Also from Dinli was this Mini, completely modified for racing. They said that it was built by VP Justin Hall.
Warn Winch
P For when you get your Raptor REALLY stuck! Warn had this new 1.5 ci especially for the lightweight sport ATVs. Winch includes 50' of wire rope, adds only 12 pounds to the front, and takes minimal amp draw.
A&R Trading Company
Pr Meeting the demands of the new mini ATV racing craze, A&R Trading Company had this E-Ton Viper fully modified. They have a whole line of high-performance parts and accessories for the minis.
PSI Performance
PSI was showing their MX/ATV "Big Air" carb. The carb is available for two or four-strokes, and is claimed to be one of the simplest and most effective units on the market - NO JETS. All tuning is done externally.
Dyna Performance Electronics

Dynatek continues to expand their digital performance ignition systems for the ATV line. The Dyna FS-P has four programmable timing curves. The plug-in module is available for the LTZ400, 400EX, Raptor, Predator and the YFZ450.

Kymco

We told you we had tested and liked some of the import ATVs to hit the market. Wait - isn't that ORC's own Jammin' Justin Waters, jammin' on the Kymco Mongoose at the dunes on the Oregon Coast?!

We always knew he'd be a poster-child for something...
